Two perspectives. Two emotions.
Yet both of them are you.

In the Footsteps of Great Photographers

A tribute to the defining voices of photography—and the creation of your own exhibition-ready examination piece.

We have all dreamed of being someone's muse — a model, a character, the protagonist of a beautifully composed image. Imagine seeing something in a photograph of yourself that you never thought possible.

During the project, we reveal different sides of each participant through visual references to influential photographers. Two selected portraits are combined into one 50 × 70 cm lenticular artwork. The images are divided into very fine strips and precisely aligned beneath a micro-lens surface. As a result, a different portrait becomes visible from each viewing angle: when you walk past the artwork, one image changes into the other. It is a physical optical print — not a screen or digital animation. Read the international overview of lenticular printing on Wikipedia.

You can be understated or extravagant, mysterious or expressive — what matters is that you bring yourself.

Optical effect, real example

How a lenticular image works

The external example clearly demonstrates how a lenticular print changes as the viewing position shifts. The same physical optical principle creates the transition between your two portraits in this project.

From photographic history to your own image

See through the masters’ eyes. Create in your own voice.

The project is also the creative finale and examination work of the VIPACH adult photography programme: participants draw on defining approaches from photographic history to create an original, exhibition-ready artwork.

Henri Cartier-Bresson

The master of the decisive moment showed how composition, human gesture and timing can converge within a single second.

Brassaï

As the poet of the nocturnal city, he built timeless stories from atmosphere, artificial light and shadow.

Man Ray

He transformed photography into an experimental art form in which imagination could matter more than straightforward representation.

Dorothea Lange

With empathy and dignity, she demonstrated how one portrait can become social memory and a shared conscience.

Robert Capa

His images gained their power from proximity, presence and courage—created within the rhythm of events rather than from a safe distance.

Vivian Maier

A quiet observer who elevated small, candid and often hidden moments of everyday city life into enduring art.

Diane Arbus

She approached individuality with curiosity rather than judgement, redefining who and what could be considered worthy of a portrait.

Richard Avedon

By removing visual distraction, he directed all attention toward personality, gaze and the inner energy of the sitter.

Robert Doisneau

He transformed the humour, tenderness and human closeness of everyday life into light, iconic visual stories.

The examination piece is not an imitation. It is your own artistic statement.

The aim is not to reproduce a famous photograph. You use the visual approaches, compositional choices and storytelling methods studied during the programme to create your own final artwork. The lenticular piece made from the selected portraits becomes both your professional examination work and a central exhibit in the Vienna gallery presentation.

Frequently asked questions.

The essential points, without ambiguous fine print.

When is the contract formed?

Not when the application form is submitted. The contract is formed only through the separate confirmation sent after selection; that message contains the payment link and final participation terms.

What does the EUR 1,200 total value mean?

It is the combined estimated professional and production value of the shoot, retouching, custom lenticular production, exhibition participation and opening event. Through the VIPACH community project, the participant pays a EUR 299 material and production cost contribution.

What happens to the exhibited artwork?

The personalised 50 × 70 cm lenticular artwork becomes the participant’s property after the exhibition.

Must my images be used for marketing?

No. The use required for the exhibition is part of the project and is documented in a separate model/exhibition agreement. Advertising or media use beyond that requires separate, voluntary permission.

Do I have a right of withdrawal?

Consumers generally have a 14-day withdrawal right for distance contracts. A statutory exception may apply to the individually manufactured lenticular artwork made to personal specifications; see the withdrawal information for details.
